Mercer KiwiSaver scheme changes

We’ve been working hard to bring you positive changes to the Mercer KiwiSaver scheme.

Lower annual fund charges

From 1 September 2020, the Conservative investment option’s annual fund charges have been reduced by 19% from 0.58% to 0.47% (administration fee remains unchanged). Based on a KiwiSaver account balance of $20,000, the annual fund charges would be $94 instead of $116. Every dollar counts and this is just one way we are helping members have more money in their KiwiSaver account. Fees (other than the administration fee) vary depending on the investment option you invest in. To find out more read the KiwiSaver facts page.

Our focus on responsible investing

A new research survey from Mercer shows that that New Zealanders are incredibly passionate about investing in a way that makes a difference.* Mercer KiwiSaver scheme members have the opportunity to actively invest responsibly and we are pleased to have added more investments focused on creating a positive environmental impact and removed investments that may damage the environment. We believe KiwiSaver funds will deliver more sustainable long-terms returns when they pay close attention to environmental, social and governance issues like climate change and water security.

Our environmental, social and governance investment approach is applied to all seven of our KiwiSaver investment options. Currently our investment options invest in companies involved in:

o   Renewable and alternative energy

o   Pollution control solutions

o   Energy efficiency

o   Waste management and technologies

o   Water infrastructure and technologies

o   Sustainable consumer goods
